It needs to sound appropriately anemic. Dude, it's a delivery truck. L-head or F-head four or six. Any less than four ruins the whole thing, though.

Better, make a two out of two moped one-cylinders bolted together. Sounds depressing, has the number of hits per R that a four-cylinder would, and is off the shelf foul weak sadness.
